CS Doing Good Hackathon 2025 – Confronting Disinformation (הפקולטה למדעי המחשב באונ' חיפה ואיגוד האינטרנט הישראלי)

This year, the Israeli Internet Association in collaboration with the Taub CS Technion, confront the unprecedented disinformation crisis—ranked the top global risk by the World Economic Forum (2025). Trust in news is collapsing, with only 40% of people believing the information they consume. In Israel, the danger is even more acute: 86% of citizens struggle to identify reliable content, and 73% of teenagers have been exposed to falsehoods about sensitive issues (Bezeq Report, 2024). As disinformation spreads, public trust erodes, division deepens, and democratic stability hangs in the balance.

The hackathon will be held on Thursday and Friday, May 8–9, 2025. 140 computer science students from both the graduate and undergraduate programs will gather for a 24-hour programming marathon, collaborating with faculty members, researchers, industry engineers, and professionals from the fields of media, public diplomacy, as well as researchers in information and behavior — to develop solutions with real applications.

Computer science students at the Technion from all backgrounds and with diverse skills can register to participate in this hackathon. Your registration will be considered an expression of interest, and your application will be reviewed by the hackathon team.
